Final Super Bowl Week Impression: Cardinals Relaxed, Steelers Businesslike

TAMPA, Fla. -- The above video of Cardinals safety Antrel Rolle showing off his dance moves and entertaining about a dozen of his teammates is just one of the many examples I've seen this week of the way the Cardinals seem to be the more relaxed team in the Super Bowl, while the Steelers have taken a more businesslike approach.

When I've asked questions of Steelers players, I've usually gotten fairly straightforward answers, often detailing the Xs and Os matchups with the Cardinals. When I've talked to Cardinals players, I've heard more jokes and more laughter.

Of course, the real question is whether all this matters. Just because I've seen the players act a certain way around the media, that doesn't mean it's any reflection of their practice habits. And even if it were a reflection of their practice habits, it could be interpreted as saying that the Cardinals are loose and the Steelers are tight, or that the Steelers are focused and the Cardinals are distracted.

That's why this week of hype really doesn't have a whole lot to do with what happens on Sunday. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin put it best: "Performance always defines preparation," Tomlin said. "I can trick myself into feeling good about it. The reality is, if we play well on Sunday, it was great preparation. If we don't play well then it wasn't good enough. I feel good about where we are and I think the guys have dealt with the things that have been presented to them this week really well. When we are by ourselves and doing what we do to prepare, it was very normal. That is encouraging, but ultimately, how we play on Sunday will define that."
