The Super Bowl Prop Bet 13-Step Program: Step 6, Cross-Ups

Super Bowl Prop Bets are as American as your mother and as addicting as, um, stuff. Will Brinson's got a program for your all-American fix.

One of the more desperate prop bets you can sling around involves using multiple sports to gamble. Actually, strike that "desperate" and go ahead and insert "awesome." Because, let's be honest, there's really nothing cooler than getting to pit basketball and football against each other in one big move to rake a ton of cash.

When the Super Bowl comes to town though, is certainly a pristine moment to grab both sports by the, um, balls, and make a crazy wager. This year, fortunately, LeBron James is playing on Super Bowl Sunday (don't worry -- he's a Browns fan; he has no clue he's supposed to be watching.)

What particularly stands out?
Who Will Have More on Feb 1, 2009?
Steelers + Cardinals Points -12.5 (-105)
LeBron James Points + Assists +12.5 (-125)
Now, while I do love this Super Bowl matchup in an odd way, I've already told you that I like the under. Which means, based on Vegas' initial reaction, that they think Bron will have less than 34.5 assists and points combined against the Pistons. The Pistons are good; LeBron is a freakshow. I'll take James all day on this.
Kurt Warner TD Passes 0 (-130)
LeBron James 3 Pt Made 0 (even)
Wow. This one's actually pretty clever; LeBron averages 1.26 three pointers per game. Warner averaged 1.88 touchdowns per game over the course of the season, not including eight in three postseason games. The immediate logical reaction is that LeBron can score more three pointers than Warner can throw touchdowns, because it's just that much easier (it is, time relative and whatnot.) But the reality is that this is actually a pretty good bet if you lay a little light cash on Warner's side.

There are plenty of others too -- Kevin Garnett points versus the Cards/Steelers first half points. Or, if you're really feeling like a degenerate, you can put money on whether Anderson Varejao will outscore the point differential in the game (while getting spotted 1.5 points); the main thing to remember is that if you're going to lay money on the Super Bowl, make sure you throw a little extra on a cross sport affair. It's really the only way to make yourself feel like you truly gambled.
